So. Many. Places. To. Pitch. (And 12 Full-Time Job Listings We Love)
Hello travel writers,
First of all, our Be A Travel Writer sale weekend was huge, and we want to send a warm welcome to all our new students! We can’t wait to get to know you, and we’d love to introduce you to the group if you’d like to fill out this fun little Q&A form and appear in a future newsletter.
I (Nina) am back from last week’s International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) conference in Cannes, where we spent almost a week talking travel news and trends with professionals from all sides of the industry and all over the world. (I actually counted that I attended 44 meetings/events in 3 days — my feet are still torn to shreds. Send your comfy work shoe recommendations my way, please).
One of those events was Travel + Leisure’s annual Evolution of Travel breakfast, where I spoke on a panel hosted by our Editor in Chief, Jacqui Gifford. Jacqui was kind enough to compile some takeaways from the panel (I definitely recommend following her on Instagram if you’re not already), and Stacey and I wanted to share them with you here. The theme was State of Play — as Jacqui put it, “a deep-dive into the experience economy and the creative, out of the box moments that make a trip stand out.” It’s about the experiences that force you to unplug and sometimes even find your inner kid again.
More on that below, but first, read on for our latest calls for pitches and job opportunities. And don’t forget to join our (very affordable but never on sale) job board for more opportunities every day of the week. (If you are a new full course student who hasn’t received your free access to the job board, email us at [email protected]).

One Place We Love

I flew from Cannes to Cabo, where I’ve been experiencing the aforementioned “State of Play” first hand — in a pretty stunning setting at Esperanza, Auberge Resorts Collection, as you can see. Of course, this included hopping on the pickle ball trend and a sunset beach picnic that plays upon the beloved Baja beach camping tradition. It’s such a special way to experience the peninsula’s dramatic land and seascape, and to our delight, whale season came early this year.
One Story We Love
Japan is so hot right now, and we’ve been enjoying coverage of Ginza Hachigou, a Michelin-star ramen joint where a lucky few (70 people per day) can enjoy $10 dishes by renowned Tokyo chef Yasushi Matsumura. Check out this story by Faith Katunga for Travel Noire and this video from Conde Nast Traveler. Is Japan on your 2025 list?
See you in class,
Stacey & Nina
