Hello, travel writers,
The best part of launching Be A Travel Writer has been watching our students succeed time and time again… it truly never gets old. Just recently, Nicole Findlay published a T+L top-performer about an underrated California wine region, and Raymond Braun reported live from the Olympics! Keep scrolling for more on that. (And if you’re a student, don’t forget to share your wins with us.)
And because we want to keep seeing you succeed, we recently asked a small group of our students which topics they’d love to learn more about in future classes. We already have multiple new ideas we can’t wait to get started on, from iPhone photography to social video editing to AI. Do you have a class wish list? Email us!
Of course, as you scroll, you’ll also find this week’s job openings and calls for pitches. As always, you can subscribe to our job board for WAY more jobs each week, including calls for pitches, full-time, part-time, and copywriting roles, updated daily, for just $4/month or $40/year.
Need more advice or want to brush up on some skills? Check out our classes and remember that our students are always welcome to reach out with questions at [email protected].

One Story We Love

We are always in awe of Raymond Braun, sports correspondent, mental health advocate, record-breaking triathlete, and Be A Travel Writer student. His latest feat? Churning out thoughtful Olympics coverage we couldn’t stop watching. If you missed it, you must check out his athlete interviews on Instagram. We also wanted to share his article and Reel for Travel + Leisure about visiting every Olympic venue in 24 hours. They’re the perfect example of a unique angle that stood out to editors in a sea of Olympics pitches.
One Place We Love
I (Stacey) just got back from a family vacation in Key West to celebrate my dad’s 70th birthday and had the absolute BEST stay with Lunara Bay, a part of the under-the-radar (but deserving of way more attention) Marriott Homes & Villas. Renting the house just on the outskirts of the center of town allowed my family to all stay together so we could enjoy downtime by the pool (with plenty of virgin piña coladas) and nights spent playing board games (turns out “Relative Insanity” is for ages 14 and up NOT 4 and up like I thought … shoutout to my sister for not being mad at me for introducing my niece and nephew to a VERY inappropriate game for kids!) in between adventures around town. If you’re heading to Key West soon, do not skip the Butterfly Conservatory, which was hands down our favorite stop. Story coming, but for now, just relishing in getting to spend time with my family in person!
See you in class,
Stacey & Nina
