Hello, travel writers,
You can always count on us to keep it real, and we’ll admit it feels like a tumultuous week in travel: Spirit Airlines shut down, which could cause yet another rise in airfare, and three passengers have died from hantavirus on an Oceanwide Expeditions cruise ship—among the many other global issues occurring at the moment.
As travel writers in times like these, we try to dig into ways to safely and responsibly guide anxious travelers, whether it’s through interviewing experts on relevant health and safety tips, digging into ways to save money, or thinking outside the box about underrated destinations or types of trips that might give them peace of mind during these difficult times. Have questions on what to do now? Shoot us an email at [email protected].
Our job board is still packed with opportunities, and you’ll find a selection below. Don’t forget you can also subscribe for WAY more jobs each week, including calls for pitches, full-time, part-time, and copywriting roles, updated daily, for just $4/month or $40/year.
Need more advice or want to brush up on some skills? Check out our classes and remember our students are always welcome to reach out with questions at [email protected].

One Place We Love

I (Nina) told you all I was taking my first-ever trip in an RV back in March with Outdoorsy, and as promised, I’m sharing the details here about one place I love: the open road! Transparently, this is probably the most affordable and easily replicable trip I’ve written about in recent times, and it was so much fun. (And the shower wasn’t bad after all!) Renting an RV really does give you the freedom to become a more spontaneous traveler—and if you’re looking for a low-key getaway this spring/summer, it is a special year to explore Route 66.
One Story We Love

Kathleen Rellihan, senior travel & culture editor at Outside, recently posted this story by Jen Murphy, and we had to share. While we spend most of our time celebrating and encouraging travel, it’s also so important to use our platforms to initiate change when we get the chance. Unfortunately, sometimes we see this done via fearmongering for clicks—but Jen Murphy’s piece is the opposite. It’s responsible reporting that brings attention to an issue and hopefully will help make these popular experiences safer for travelers in years to come. You can read it here.
See you in class,
Stacey & Nina
