A Writing Job That Pays $216K — and Nina's Australia Tips
Hello, travel writers,
As Stacey mentioned last week (shout out to Albert the koala), I just got back from a work trip to Australia. It was my first time there and I absolutely loved it (and got to exercise some different skills as an on-camera host). I’m already thinking about when I can go back. I dropped a few of my recommendations below in case you’re planning a trip.
Anyway, I know we touted a very high-paying writer job, so without further ado, please go ahead and scroll through this week’s opportunities. (And, as always, sign up for our job board for more).

One Place We Love

You already guessed it… Australia! I just traveled to Sydney, Byron Bay, and Brisbane, but below are a few of my favorite activities and restaurants. Thank you to Tourism Australia for putting such a perfect itinerary together.
Sydney
Saint Peter: A restaurant where “fish butcher” Josh Niland is serving seafood like you’ve never seen it before — set in Paddington, an adorable neighborhood with Victorian terraced houses and cool local boutiques and galleries.
Oz Paddle: The original Sydney Harbor kayak tour led by competitive paddler Sophie Morgan. There is no way to get a better view of the city!
Royal Botanic Garden: Just a few minutes’ walk from the city center, it’s free to enter, but worth taking an Aboriginal Bush Tucker Tour ($32) with a First Nations guide to learn about Australia’s natural remedies and taste the food growing in its gardens.
Bryon Bay
Zephyr Horses: Horseback riding from bush to beach is a stunning way to tour Byron, and Zephyr takes you on quiet tracks through nature you otherwise wouldn’t get to see. I even spotted a wallaby.
Three Blue Ducks at The Farm: Darren Robertson’s restaurant takes farm to table to the next level; Three Blue Ducks sits on an 80-acre working farm that guests are free to roam. The famous “perfect steak” is in fact perfect, and the whole place is a vibe.
Crystal Castle: Deep in the hinterland, this 25-acre, family-run sanctuary is full of lush greenery, serene walks, some of the world’s largest crystals, and activities such as sound healing and aura reading.
Brisbane
Howard Smith Wharves: The riverfront is the place to get a taste of Brisbane life on a sunny day, and Howard Smith Wharves has lots of food and drink options to enjoy while hanging out and soaking in the scene. We enjoyed prawn pizza (it’s a thing) and beer at Felons Brewing Co., and I also heard great things about Stanley (a Chinese restaurant with a new cocktail bar).
Agnes: Thanks to wood-fire cooking in an open kitchen, this restaurant manages to be industrial-chic and cozy at the same time. Everything on the menu is cooked this way, even the cocktail ingredients. Don’t miss the roast duck.
Tangalooma Island Resort on Moreton Island: This island is an easy day trip via ferry from Brisbane, and it’s an incredible place to snorkel, go sand boarding, and just have a day full of adventure in the sunshine. I was able to see turtles, dolphins, and lots of tropical fish.
See you in class,
Stacey & Nina
