2025 Is Your Year! Here's Who's Hiring
Plus, an easy way to set your goals.
Hello, travel writers,
Last week, we talked about some of the incredible 2024 wins you shared with us, and this week we want to share some of your 2025 goals. Goal setting can be such a valuable exercise, and sometimes all it takes is a little inspiration. Here were some of the biggest themes we saw in your responses:
Build relationships with editors that result in consistent assignments
Work in a new medium (ie. video, print)
Land a story with a new publication (or a specific household name)
Plan out a travel schedule in advance, including press trips
Dedicate more time to existing projects instead of constantly chasing the “shiny new thing”
We challenge you to write down your own goals and track your progress — in fact, we even brought back our free goal and habit tracker, which was a huge hit last year. We look forward to helping you reach these goals and more in the year ahead through our classes (existing and new), coaching, our job board, and this newsletter.
Speaking of coaching, we now offer a new full-suite option that includes a full month (4 sessions) of 1:1 coaching. Have questions or want to add this onto your existing course purchase? Email [email protected].
And speaking of household names, our job board has a brand new job (listed today) at Travel + Leisure.
Before we get into calls for pitches, we want to take a moment to shout out our sponsor, Authory, who is here to help keep track of all your writing in one place, so you can have a portfolio ready to share with editors at the drop of a hat.
All of your work. All in one place. Automatically.
How much time do you spend manually updating your portfolio? And how often is it still outdated?
Say goodbye to the hassle of constantly updating your portfolio. Authory creates a beautiful, self-updating portfolio that automatically pulls in your new articles as you publish them, no matter where.
And that’s not all: Authory also backs up all your published articles automatically, so you never have to worry about losing your work.

One Story We Love

Be A Travel Writer student Jessica Baltzersen told us she’d been trying to get a story published on the Cumberland moonbow “forever,” and she finally got it accepted by Sierra magazine! Jessica is proof: If you know about something cool and don’t give up on finding it the right home, you will land the story! We love how she combined personal experience, expert quotes, and researched information on how others can experience the phenomenon. Now, all we want to do is chase rainbows in Kentucky!
See you in class,
Stacey & Nina
